“The Heidi Chronicles,” about an art historian looking back on the romances and regrets in her life, opened Off Broadway in 1988 to critical acclaim and quickly transferred to Broadway. The play won both the Pulitzer Prize for drama and the Tony Award for best play – a relatively rare feat for a playwright, and the first best play Tony for a woman. Wasserstein, who also wrote “Uncommon Women and Others” and “The Sisters Rosensweig,” died in 2006.
Mr. Biggs, who is currently a cast member on “Orange Is the New Black,” will play Scoop Rosenbaum, a writer who has a long, flirtatious friendship with Heidi, while Mr. Pinkham will play Peter Patrone, Heidi’s gay best friend. Ms. Chimo will play the roles of Fran, Molly, Betsy and April. In the original Broadway run, Joan Allen, Peter Friedman and Boyd Gaines played the three lead roles, while Joanne Camp took on the characters that Ms. Chimo will be. (Mr. Gaines won a Tony, and Ms. Allen and Ms. Camp were nominated.)
The show’s theater will be announced at a later date. Opening night will be in early March, said the producers, who include Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, Susan Gallin and Mary Lu Roffe.
