Mother in Poland suspected of killing her three newborn infants

Mother in Poland suspected of killing her three newborn infants, A woman in Poland is in police custody after a tip from a neighbor revealed slayings of three newborn babies.

An April 10 Associated Press release says that a 41-year-old woman from the northern town of Lubawa has confessed to authorities that she killed her infant babies. The release identified her only as Lucyna D.

The bodies of the infants were found in a freezer located in the home. According to police spokeswoman Anna Fic, the woman said she “could not part from them.”

Prosecutors are questioning the woman, along with her husband, who together have four other children between the ages of 6 and 22. The children are in the protective care of relatives.

Crime scene investigators and forensic analysts are attempting to determine if the infants were stillborn or alive at birth. The results of that analysis will determine whether the couple are prosecuted.

If convicted of three counts of homicide, the woman will face a life sentence. The death penalty has been abolished in all European countries, except for Belarus.

Police closed in after a neighbor said they saw no baby result from Lucyna’s pregnancy.
