Elon Musk responds to Sarah Palin Tesla critique more in sorrow than in anger, An April 8, 2013 piece in the Silicon Valley Business Journal relates the reaction that SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk had to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s critique of his line of electric cars. Musk tweeted, “Sarah Palin calls Tesla a loser. Am deeply wounded. Btw, Model S warranty does cover 'bricking'. “
“Bricking” refers to alleged flaw in the design of batteries of electric cars such as the Tesla Model S that causes them to become permanently dead when totally discharged. Tesla has previously denied that the phenomenon exists insofar as its cars are concerned.
Palin had been commenting on the demise of another electric car company, Fisker Automotive, when she mentioned is passing other electric cars such as the Chevy Volt and the Tesla, noting that they have received subsidies from the Obama administration and referring to them as “losers.”
Musk’s reaction to Palin was relatively mild compared to the one he offered a negative New York Times review of the Model S, a luxury car that runs on battery power. According to Cnet Musk argued that the review was false and that the test cars logs proved it.
