Will ‘Longmire’ fans bail like ‘Dallas’ viewers? Netflix considers flaky viewers, Fans of “Longmire” have been beating the revival drum since A&E cancelled the series. The shocking decision to end the show after season three has fans upset and taking to social media to find a way for the show to continue. According to Screen Rant on Saturday, there is a possibility that Netflix will pick up the series for season four and continue the show.
So, will Netflix consider the viewers that might not be interested in the story after such a lengthy time has passed? Call the fans flaky, busy, or folks that have moved on to better television programs, the next company that picks up the series has to consider just how flaky the viewers are and if the commitment to watch the show in the future is genuine.
This isn’t the first time that networks have to figure out the business side of a television program to consider the margins of profit. Remember “Dallas” fans who wanted to see the show revived after years of silence? The TNT Network picked up the series, but after a while the fans seemed to be less impressed with the new version of the show. The popularity of the program decreased, and the network pulled the plug. After a few seasons, it’s not surprising that a show loses viewers as people’s interests change.
While fans are really wishing that the sheriff of a fictional Wyoming county may ride again, K2 Radio reports Friday that there isn’t a 100% commitment by Netflix or anyone else to actually pick up the series. It takes time to sort out the possibilities, but more importantly it takes effort to see if there is really an interest in the show or if A&E had the right decision to drop the property and move on to a new story with a steadier following of viewers.
