New Information On Star-Lord’s Father In Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, Star-Lord’s father was only mentioned briefly in Guardians of the Galaxy. We learned that he hired Yondu to take Peter from Earth and delivery him to him, and he was described by Peter’s mother as “an angel composed of light”. Now, thank to an interview with IGN, we have more information. Director James Gunn opened up a bit when asked about the characters role:
“It’s funny, I don’t want to black box it too much. You know what I mean? Yeah, it’s like, we’ll find out who his dad is, and it’s going to serve the story. It’s not going to be something like in The Crying Game, though, where the big thing was, ‘He has a penis!’ [or The Sixth Sense's big twist]. I don’t want to do that. It’s not about the revelation of who it is; it’s about what his relationship is to that character.”
We had previously learned that Star-Lord’s father would play a part in the sequel with Kevin Feige saying when asked about the character: “I think that would certainly be part of a next Guardians adventure. Certainly, that would be part of it.”
We recently learned which characters would be returning in the sequel, and even got the description of an alternate ending to the film. It only goes to show how big this film really was with information being released months after the films release, and years before the sequel’s release.
Guardians of the Galaxy is the tenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has grossed over $770 million worldwide. It tells the story of Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, and the alliance he form with a group of misfits after stealing a coveted orb.
