Dave Grohl

This former Nirvana drummer and founder of the Foo Fighters has a big house in L.A. but otherwise lives a typical suburban lifestyle. In a 2003 interview, he said, "Knowing I don't even have a high school diploma to fall back on, I'm going to be really careful with what I've got."


DICK YUENGLING JR.

The owner of successful Pennsylvania brewing company D.G. Yuengling & Sons drives to work in a 2002 Ford Taurus that he bought used, and he rinses out Styrofoam cups so he can reuse them.


ERIC CLAPTON

He is one of the most influential guitarists of all time, but the man also known as Slowhand has been spotted at a Los Angeles Laundromat washing his own clothes.


HALLE BERRY

This Emmy and Golden Globe winner is frugal because she's cautious: "I save a lot because I'm always worried about when this trip is going to stop."


JAY LENO

The former host of "The Tonight Show" said in 2008 that he stashed away all his earnings from the show, living entirely off his income as a stand-up comedian.

This member of the Wal-Mart family is one of the 10 richest people in the world but apparently inherited his spending habits from his father (his name?), preferring old pickup trucks to fancy new sports cars.


KATIE COURIC

She makes millions each year as a talk show host but doesn't see the need to spend her money on costly cosmetics and toiletries. "Some things you get at the drugstore are just as effective as things you get at Bergdorf Goodman," she told People magazine.

KEVIN LOVE

This NBA player (his team?) socked away 75 percent of what he made in his first year and upped the percentage after that. He keeps his payroll small and hired a personal chef – which is a tax write-off – rather than dining out with friends regularly.


KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN

Whether it's because she's cheap or because she wants to follow the latest fad, this reality star with a famous family (see photos) has apparently taken up couponing.

MARGE SCHOTT

The late owner of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team was often criticized for not spending what was needed to build the team, and she publicly complained about having to pay players who were injured.


PAUL MCCARTNEY

The daughter of this former Beatle has complained that her father made her and her siblings attend free public school in Britain when all their friends were attending expensive private schools.


QUEEN ELIZABETH II

This royal lady apparently has been pinching pennies by trimming the fat in her country's budget, putting off repairs to her palace (see photos) and turning out the palace lights at night to save on electricity.


SARAH JESSICA PARKER

This superstar actress grew up poor, and even though her role as Carrie Bradshaw has earned her plenty of cash, she still apparently takes low-key vacations (like where?) and avoids fancy restaurants.


SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR

This actress (many people know her as "Buffy") loves to buy local, organic products, but she prefers to buy what's on sale. Plus, she says she clips coupons regularly because, "Why should you pay more for something that someone else is paying less for?"

TERI HATCHER

This "Desperate Housewives" star (where's she from?) told People magazine: "I don't spend my money on sports cars or new million-dollar houses. I drive my cars for 10 years until they have 100,000 miles on them.

TIGER WOODS

This pro golfer is apparently not only a bad tipper but also a cheapskate when it comes to women. Golf Digest called him "No. 1 … at being a bad tipper," and most of his alleged former mistresses say he never paid for anything.

TOBEY MAGUIRE

Despite his success as Spider-Man, this actor still dresses in T-shirts and jeans and is intentionally conservative with his millions. "I just never wanted to put myself in the position where my spending was so huge that I had to keep making movie after movie."


TYRA BANKS

This model and media personality apparently stocks up on hotel soaps and shampoos and is even cheap when it comes to hosting her own show. She told PR Inside: "If you drink water in the dressing room and don't finish it, your name will be on it if you come back on the show. That's how cheap I am."


WARREN BUFFETT

He is one of the world's richest men but still lives in a five-bedroom stucco house in Omaha, Neb., that he purchased for $31,500 in 1957.
