Ronda Rousey To Fight Cat Zingano At UFC 182, The UFC announced this week that female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey defend her title for the fifth time on Jan. 3 in Las Vegas against the undefeated Cat Zingano at UFC 182.
The fight has been more than a year in the making. 32-year-old Zingano previously earned a shot at Rousey after she TKO'd Miesha Tate in April 2013. However, the following month, she suffered a torn ACL in her right knee, delaying the fight while he recovered.
Since the injury, Rousey (10-0) has defended the 135-pound title three times -- beating Tate at UFC 168, Sara McMann at UFC 170 and Alexis Davis at UFC 175.
Zingano (9-0) finally returned from a 17-month layoff at UFC 178 in September, earning a third round TKO against Amanda Nunes. Immediately after, UFC president Dana White confirmed Zingano had re-established herself as the division's No. 1 contender.
While Rousey/Zingano will be a large draw at UFC 182, light heavyweight champ Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier will be the headliners.
