The comedian's only daughter remembered her mom as a demanding tenant in a hilarious and touching eulogy read at Rivers' funeral in New York Sept. 7.
Melissa Rivers, 46, shared a few "complaints" her mother had while living with her in Los Angeles. The passage was an excerpt from her upcoming book "A Letter to My Mom," due out in April, which she wrote before her mother died last Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Mom: I received the note that you slipped under my bedroom door last night," her excerpt, published Wednesday by THR, begins.
"While I appreciate your desire to 'upgrade' your accommodations to a larger space, I cannot, in good conscience, move (my 13-year-old son) Cooper into the laundry room."
"While I trust you with him, it is not OK for you to undermine my rules," she wrote.
"It is not OK that you let him have chips and ice cream for dinner. It is not OK that you let him skip school to go to the movies. And it is really not OK that the movie was 'Last Tango in Paris.'"
Rivers goes on to detail that her mother, who headed up E!'s "Fashion Police" and routinely performed as a stand-up comedian until her death, would even host lavish parties at her home.
"While I'm glad to see you're socializing, you must refill the hot tub after your parties," she wrote.
"In fact, you need to tone down the parties altogether. Imagine my surprise when I saw the photos you posted on Facebook of your friends frolicking topless in the hot tub."
Rivers' daughter concludes the excerpt writing that she loved having her mother live with her, and that she is "grateful for every minute" she and son Cooper had with her.
You are an inspiration. You are also 30 days late with the rent," Melissa Rivers wrote.
Joan Rivers' final farewell was a Hollywood affairthrough and through, complete with scores of her celebrity friends in attendance, songs from Broadway shows performed live, and plenty of paparazzi and fans outside the Upper East Side's Temple Emanu-El.
