Melissa and joe gorga house, Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Melissa and Joe Gorga have been married for eight years and gone through many milestones together, but one of their most exciting moments is still to come. Or, well, at least that’s how they feel right now.
After a long road to selling their home, they’re hard at work designing their new one, which will include at least two huge, luxurious rooms tailor-made for each of them. And though the stress of building their dream home can be overwhelming, the couple said that they keep the drama out of their relationship in a surprising way: sex.
Read on to see what the Gorgas told Wetpaint Entertainment at McDonald’s Mighty Wings launch party on September 15, including their sex minimums, the surprising item that may fill an entire room in their new house, and what the future holds for their family. (Hint: Melissa is set in stone about adding anyone to their family of five.)
Wetpaint Entertainment: Melissa, your new book [Love, Italian Style] came out, and it feels like just yesterday that you were shooting the cover photo for it!
Melissa Gorga: Yes — “More fan, more fan!”
What is the biggest relationship advice you both could give for having such a long-lasting happy marriage with kids and no drama?
Melissa: You know, I think respect is my number one, but I think sex has a lot to do with it. It needs to happen three times a week.Melissa: At minimum three times a week, because when you’re not intimately involved and you’re not connected, there’s something missing in the relationship. You need that connection, and I truly feel that respect is huge and intimacy is huge! People need to focus more on both of those.
You have been married for a long time. What are some of the biggest milestones you’ve gone through together recently?
Melissa: Bringing our son to kindergarten is a milestone; having our son Gino start playing football is a huge milestone for us. We also just sold our home, which we built ourselves. We built it, and now we’re designing our new home, so there’s another milestone!
Can you tell me a bit about what’s in the new home? Are you going to have a man cave? A spa room? What are your must-haves?
Melissa: I am going to have a spa room this time, where it’s going to be the hair and makeup room. I don’t know if we’re going to do the man cave this time, are we?
Joe: Oh yeah!
Melissa: Yeah?
Maybe a room for your hat collection. Joe?
Joe: Yeah! The man cave will have hats, poker, wine room, all that stuff.
Melissa: Yeah, I think we need a whole room just for his hats...
Have there been any big moments when your kids where you’re like, “Oh my god, I can’t believe they’re growing up!”?
Melissa: I mean, besides losing teeth? Tony loses a tooth like every day! [Laughs] I don’t know, I think just going to school and they’re just regular, good, young kids. They make me smile every day.
Joe: They’re still young yet!
Are you looking to expand your family, or are you done?
Melissa: No, yeah, we’re done. Three is it. I have three beautiful, healthy children, and that’s what I wanted.
