Thunderstorms and ice for West Michigan, A stationary front poised just to the south of Michigan will continue to produce rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms across southern Lower Michigan for the rest of the week. So far the heaviest rain has occurred mainly along and north of I-96 where more than an inch of rain has fallen. Over the next few days the heaviest rain will shift along and south of I-96 where another 2-3 inches of rain is possible. Flooding is possible for many of the smaller rivers and streams going into the weekend.

No severe weather is expected from the thunderstorms in Michigan. Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has the Slight Risk for severe storms to the south of Michigan for today and tonight.

As the parent storm pushes east and into the Ohio Valley. Cold air arrives Wednesday night with temperatures at and below freezing for part of West Michigan. The Grand Rapids National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain and sleet for Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, and Isabella counties from 2 AM-8 AM Thursday. Ice may accumulate to around 1/ 4 inch making travel very difficult.

The wind will become very gusty for the rest of the week adding to the travel troubles. Make sure any outdoor objects are secure.
