Lone Star College Stabbing: 14 wounded, school on lockdown , Beginning at approximately 11:20 a.m. on April 9, a student from the Lone Star Community College System’s campus in Cypress, Texas went from building to building stabbing and wounding at least 14 people, two critically.
The mass stabber was subdued by other students at the campus and held until police arrived on the scene according to The Dallas Morning News.
At least 12 people were taken to area hospitals including four individuals who needed to be choppered. Two of those individuals are listed as being in critical condition.
The call that came in to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said there was a male “on the loose” stabbing people.
Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said:
“Some of the details in the call slip did indicate that students or faculty were actively responding to work to subdue this individual,” Garcia said, describing the man as being about 21 years old and enrolled at the college.
“So we’re proud of those folks, but we’re glad no one else is injured any more severely than they are.”
Students at the school were texted by college officials to shelter in place.
Courtland Sedlachek, 18, was in class when his phone started buzzing along with the phones of everyone else in class. The room was temporarily locked down, but students were let out and off campus a short time later, in what Sedlachek described as an orderly evacuation.
Steven Maida, a student at Lone Star College, aided in the tackling and subduing of the stabber. He helped hold the suspect until police arrived.
Maida posted a picture of the suspect on Instagram.

ALERT: LSC-CyFair Locked Down
LSC-Cy Fair Campus remains on lockdown and is currently being evacuated by law enforcement. Traffic flow out of campus parking lots is being managed by LSCS campus police and Harris County Sherriff’s Office. LSC-CyFair campus will be closed for the remainder of the day/evening. LSC-Fairbanks Center is open.
The media staging area has been established at the south parking lot near the Learning Commons/Library building.
The incident occurred near and around the Health Science Center and remains an active crime scene with changing and evolving information. HCSO has one suspect is in custody and another suspect may possibly be at large.
There are 11 confirmed victims; 4 have been transported by life-flight and others by ambulance to area hospitals.
