Killed moving rabbit: 79-year-old hit by car

Killed moving rabbit: 79-year-old hit by car, A man killed moving a rabbit is making headline news today. On April 9, ABC News reported that 79-year-old William Kieren pulled over on Wyoming 230 (a highway) to tend to an injured rabbit who must have been hit by a car. The rabbit was still alive but was hurt according to the report.

While Kieren was trying to help the little bunny, a car drove by and hit him. According to the report he was "on or near the center line" when the accident occurred. The rabbit was put down shortly after. It is unknown what the man planned to do with the rabbit, but many people feel awful that such a caring man was killed doing something good.

The "killed moving rabbit" headline suggests that Kieren was trying to move the rabbit to a different area. It sounds like the rabbit was in the middle of the road and that Kieren wanted to carry it to a safer place so that it might be able to heal and move on with its life. Sadly, neither the rabbit nor Kieren made it safely to the other side of the road.

Rabbits are extremely strong animals who work very hard to mask their pain. Since they are "prey" animals, most are timid and very aware of their surroundings at all times. If Kieren was able to move the injured rabbit safely, there is a good chance that it could have survived.

Sadly, Kieren was killed moving the rabbit. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital on Sunday.
