FTSE LIVE: Footsie rides high on back of record gains overnight in the US as Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq hit new highs,The Footsie was higher in early morning deals, riding off the back of record new highs stateside as the Dow Jones, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq closed at all-time highs.

The FTSE 100 index pushed ahead in opening deals, adding 14.8 points at 6,954.8, having closed 6 points higher yesterday at 6,940.6.

European markets were also up, with Germany's Dax 30 index and France's CAC 40 both increasing 0.2 per cent as investors await key eurozone PPI data later this morning.

Overnight stock markets in Asia were mostly down, despite the strong performance in the US.

This was driven by the Reserve Bank of Australia's decision to keep its benchmark interest rate on hold at 2.25 per cent. Markets has been pricing in a cut....Read More
