FTSE LIVE: Footsie declines on weak PMI data as the index 'slips further into the mire it wandered into yesterday, The Footise recorded no improvement at the lunchtime trade as a string of bad PMI data and less than impressive corporate updates continued to weigh the index down.

By mid session, the FTSE 100 index had fallen 22.8 points or 0.3 per cent at 6,866.4, substantially off its day high of 6,911.5 and continuing its uncertain performance since it set a new record a week ago.

European markets were mixed, with the CAC 40 index in Paris up 0.1 per cent and Frankfurt's Dax 30 index down 0.1 per cent as investors remain firmly focused on updates regarding the European Central Bank's asset buying programme.Read More
