Smash actress Krysta Rodriguez, 30, reveals she has breast cancer and starts up new fashion blog named ChemoCouture

Smash actress Krysta Rodriguez, 30, reveals she has breast cancer and starts up new fashion blog named ChemoCouture, Broadway and television actress Krysta Rodriguez wasn't about to let something like breast cancer beat her down.
Instead, the 30-year-old former Smash co-star started a blog so she could 'live as loudly as I can.'

That blog, ChemoCouture, launched on Thursday with the stated intent of sharing beauty tips, diet information, and more for young women experiencing cancer.

Krysta's diagnosis of breast cancer came in September 2014, prompting life and attitude changes for the young actress.
'Let me be clear when I tell you I did NOT want to do chemo,' she wrote in her first blog entry. 'I begged, coaxed and flirted with every doctor I have in an attempt to avoid this.'

Not only due to beauty reasons - although Krysta admitted to vanity too - but the actress also had to freeze some of her eggs, should she become infertile due to treatments.

She referred to this part of the process as the 'Great Harvest.' Fortunately, it seemed that her stage 2 breast cancer was treatable with chemotherapy.

'As far as cancer goes I have the Cadillac of tumours,' Krysta wrote. 'It's slow growing, highly treatable and not really interested in spreading.'

'My doctor calls it an old lady cancer,' she added. 'I always knew I was ahead of my time!Picture a lump sitting in a BarcaLounger eating Cheetos and enjoying the warm, cozy studio apartment I've been providing for it on Left Breast Lane,' the actress continued.

'Well, sorry buddy. I'm the landlord from h*** and it's eviction time.'

But the treatment wouldn't be as fun as Krysta's jokes about it, so she wanted ChemoCouture to be a site for 'all things fun and fashion, while being focused on the specific needs of those women going through chemo.'

'I still want to be sexy, to take risks, to challenge what even I view as beautiful,' Krysta wrote in the introductory blog.

'There are many young, vibrant and fashion loving women out there who want to look their best, even when we're feeling like crap.'

Tips for succeeding at this were promised as the website went forward. 2015 is my year with cancer. Might as well make it a beautiful one!' the actress said in conclusion.

On Smash, Krysta played Ana Vargas, an aspiring Broadway actress who moved in with Katharine McPhee's character of Karen.
She was a regular character on the show's second and final season in 2013.

Krysta then starred opposite Zachary Levi in the 2013 Broadway play, First Date The Musical.
