Lena Dunham to make her dreams come true with an appearance on ‘Scandal’

Lena Dunham to make her dreams come true with an appearance on ‘Scandal’, Lena Dunham says that appearing on “Scandal” is her “life’s great passion.” And now it looks like she’s about to get really passionate. On Feb. 20, EW.com revealed that the “Girls” creator will head to the set of the Shonda Rhimes ABC drama for a guest starring role on season 4 of the series. While few details are available regarding Dunham’s cameo, insiders predict she’ll have a connection to Kerry Washington’s “fixer” character Olivia Pope.

In an interview with Grantland, Dunham revealed that appearing on the Washington D.C. themed drama series is at the top of her bucket list. “Basically, my life's great passion is the idea of being a guest-star on ‘Scandal,’" she said. "I want to be like, a senator who did something wrong. … playing a really evil character, it would be really fun."

A definite super fan, in 2014, the actress even starred in a sketch about the show during a “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig. In the parody skit, Dunham played a newbie on the Gladiator squad. But perhaps most interestingly, the 28-year-old actress has a major real life connection to the woman in which the ABC drama is based on.

Earlier this year, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Dunham hired crisis management expert Judy Smith to help manage the backlash she received after she published her controversial memoir, “Not That Kind of Girl.” Smith, who is known for working with high-profile people in crisis, has long been known to be the inspiration for Kerry Washington’s lead character on “Scandal.”In addition to working with Dunham, Smith recently consulted with Sony for its handling of the company’s cyber attack.

Dunham’s guest spot on the ABC drama will air in March. “Scandal” airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
