According to Bloomberg, Walmart is now selling the 16GB iPhone 6 Plus for $229 (discounted from $279) and the iPhone 6 for $129 (discounted from $179). The deals are available in Walmart retail stores, but not its website Walmart.com. Walmart said it was dropping prices to celebrate the “last number-sequential date this century” (12/13/14).

The price of the 64GB iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has also been dropped by $50 to $229 and $329, respectively. The discounted prices require you to sign a contract from AT&T T -1.68%, Verizon Wireless or Sprint. Walmart is hoping that the price drop — which lasts until February 2015 — will drive customers into its stores during the holiday season. Less than 10% of Americans complete their Christmas shopping lists by December, reports the National Retail Federation. This means that Walmart has plenty of time to capitalize on its aggressive pricing strategy during this holiday season.

The price of the iPhones are less at Walmart than at Apple AAPL -1.59%’s retail stores. The 16GB iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus at the Apple store is $199 and $299. And the 64GB iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are $299 and $399. The iPhone 6 line is Apple’s most successful iPhone launch so far with over 10 million units sold in its first three days.

The new iPhones are not the only devices at Walmart that are receiving a price drop. The iPhone 5S has dropped $30 from $79 to $49 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 price dropped $60 from $139 to $79. Walmart has also dropped the price of the PlayStation 4 gaming consoles, Vizio LED HDTVs, Barbie holiday dolls, Zoomer Dinos and air powered hockey tables.

Earlier this month, Walmart said that Cyber Monday (December 1, 2014) was its biggest online day in history for orders. Walmart customers viewed over 1.5 billion pages on Walmart.com between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday. Mobile traffic accounted for about 70% of Walmart.com’s traffic between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday.

“There is a lot more shopping to do and that’s why we’re lowering even more prices. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Our customers can be confident that there is no other place to shop this December – whether they choose to shop today, next week or on Christmas Eve,” said Scott McCall, the senior vice president of toys and seasonal merchandising at Walmart U.S.
