The Interview’ to screen in several movie theaters on Christmas Day, Sony apparently has quite the Christmas gift for North Korea.
Several independent theaters announced that the studio has reversed course and authorized screenings of "The Interview" on Thursday. It's unclear how many theaters will show the Seth Rogen/James Franco comedy in the wake of the unprecedented cyber-attack and terror threats linked to the Asian regime -- apparently outraged by the film's premise of a fictional assassination plot aimed at the country's leader Kim Jong-un.
After the hackers behind the crippling attack on Sony escalated their rhetoric last week to threaten attacks evoking the scale of September 11, major movie chains pulled out, forcing Sony to postpone its planned release.
The studio, which took heat for capitulating to terrorists, said that it still planned to release the movie eventually.
