Police arrest suspect in shooting at Portland high school, Police in Portland say they have arrested a suspect in the shooting outside an alternative high school.
Authorities say they stopped a vehicle around 1:30 a.m. Saturday at North Interstate Avenue and Going Street and arrested a 22-year-old man. A handgun was found in the vehicle.
Police were searching an apartment about half an hour later as part of the investigation. The apartment is about five blocks east of the shooting near Rosemary Anderson High School.
Four students were shot early Friday afternoon outisde the high school for at-risk youth.
As of 10:30 p.m. EST Friday, a 16-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition, and two males — ages 17 and 20 — were in serious condition, police said. A fourth person — a 19-year-old woman — was grazed by a bullet but not hospitalized.
The victims were reportedly on their lunch break. They were all affiliated with the school, either as high school students or in job training, according to Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.
