And newly minted shoe designer Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Richie took things a step further when they joined the pros at the 2014 Footwear News Achievement Awards gala on Wedesday.
Sarah Jessica, 49, launched her exclusive range SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker earlier this year, with the shoes selling for upwards of $350 at upmarket stores like Neiman Marcus.
Meanwhile Nicole, 33, designs footwear for her rather more affordable House Of Harlow range, with designs priced anywhere from $60 for flip flops up to $225.
Wearing a lovely pair of strappy beige heels from her own range, Sarah was definitely celebrating the theme of the night.
She paired the shoes with a stylish black dress that featured mesh bands forming lighter-coloured stripes.
Her hair loose and her look accessorized with rings and bracelets, Sarah was ready for a night of fashion-forward fun.As the actress behind Sex And The City's shoe-obsessed Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah was the celebrity to watch at the party.
Nicole, meanwhile, went for a simpler look in a long gown that hid whatever shoes she might have worn to the footwear event.
Thin straps held up the scoop-neck dress of shimmery, patterned fabric coloured in green, brown, and gold. The reality star and actress kept the accessories to a minimum, which led to a clean look, especially with her hair piled high in an up-do.
Sarah and Nicole extended their happiness to each other - the two hugged upon meeting on the carpet.
Other celebrities arrived for the shoe-fashion party as well.
Brooke Burke, 43, arrived with her husband, David Charvet, wearing a fun outfit of a black top (accessorized with a large bow at the neck) and a yellow skirt.
She covered her legs with patterned black tights disappearing into black boots at mid-calf. Ballerina Misty Copeland, 32, met up with Sarah for a stop on the carpet before the party.
She wore a simple, knee-length black slip-dress, paired with silver-grey pumps.
The Fashion Footwear Association of New York began its New York Shoe Expo - a trade convention for shoe manufacturers, retailers, and the fashion community - earlier on that same Wednesday.
