Angelina Jolie cries at event honoring 'Unbroken' hero, Angelina Jolie, director of “Unbroken,” about WWII hero and Olympic runner Louis Zamperini, was choked up on Thursday at Porter House New York before she presented his family with a special honor, reports The New York Post.

The US Senate passed a resolution on Wednesday “honoring the life, accomplishments and legacy of [Zamperini] and expressing condolences on his passing,” and Jolie presented his family, including son Luke Zamperini, with an official proclamation of the honor that was originally introduced by Dianne Feinstein and John McCain.

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said he’d met with President Obama the day before and brought the certificate to New York.

“Thank you for allowing me to tell this story,” said a tearful Jolie in front of a crowd that included Barbara Walters, M. Night Shyamalan, Universal bosses Ron Meyer and Donna Langley and Jolie’s cast.
