Tyler Thigpen fell asleep at Wendy's drive-thru, arrested for DUI, Tyler Thigpen hasn't played since the 2012 season when he participated in four games for the Bills. On Sunday morning, the free agent quarterback was arrested on DUI charges when he was found asleep at the wheel in the drive-thru of a Wendy's fast food restaurant, according to the Myrtle Beach Sun.
Horry County police said they were responding to a call at a nearby gas station when they saw Thigpen's Cadillac SUV pull into the drive-thru. After about 20 minutes, police noticed the vehicle hadn't moved.
That's when they discovered the 30-year-old Thigpen -- who was with the Browns in training camp this year before he was waived in favor of Rex Grossman -- asleep with his foot on the brake. Police said it took several minutes to wake up the confused Thigpen, who said he had not consumed alcohol and refused any sobriety tests.
“My client, Tyler Thigpen, is extremely cognizant of the gravity of the allegations against him,” his lawyer, Jonny McCoy said in a statement to the newspaper. “My client and I look forward to this case taking the standard procedural avenues through our justice system with the same benefits and due process afforded to every other American citizen.”
But it could have been worse for Thigpen -- who played for three teams in his six-year career. After all, it's not like he copied Joe Cullen's drive-thru approach.
