Running back Joique Bell misses practice with ankle injury, The Detroit Lions are struggling to get all their running backs healthy at the same time.
After his season-best rushing performance against the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday, Joique Bell didn't practice on Wednesday because of an ankle injury. He briefly left the contest in the third quarter after getting awkwardly bent backward while being tackled by defensive linemen Calais Campbell and Dan Williams.
Bell's injury is coming off the heels of starter Reggie Bush missing three of the past six games, also with an ankle injury. The third back in the rotation, Theo Riddick, has also missed two contests this year.
In addition to Bell, the Lions were without four starters on Wednesday. Defensive tackle Nick Fairley (knee) and guard Larry Warford (knee) continue to recover from long-term injuries. The team also continues to take a cautious approach with All-Pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson (ankle). Finally, defensive end Jason Jones was excused from the session for a non-injury issue.
Bush and right tackle LaAdrian Waddle (knee) were limited.
For this week's opponent, the New England Patriots, defensive end Chandler Jones (hip) remains sidelined. He's missed the team's past three games. Leading receiver Julian Edelman (thigh) was among the players limited on Wednesday.
