Palin Family Brawl, As details of the drunken family brawl of Former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin were flooded into the media, her mentor John McCain was called in giving his thoughts on the matter. The infamous brawl as it was, happened at a house party in Anchorage where it was covered extensively by the media. It was seen as politically relevant and newsworthy enough to be even covered by not main media centers and not just the entertainment ones. It was all seen as a big joke, a fall of grace for the once presidential hopeful Sarah Palin and her family. Much later after details emerged, the joke wasn't seen as being very funny at all. Audio clips that describe violence and physical abuse were clear, and a lot of newscasters and channels poked fun of the incident.
Senator McCain
Sarah Palin was the running mate of senator McCain in 2008. He was asked about his thoughts on the issue and the kind of attention it got. He defended Palin, by saying that it was a family affair and that he was not aware of the details. He went on to say that such incidents happen in people's families and that he was in no way excusing nor condemning the incident. He seemed neither here nor there about the fight itself, but he did have some words for the media coverage that the story received. He said that the kind of publicity that the media laid on the story was in line with the coverage that the liberal side had accorded with Sarah Palin for many years, which he said was biased, unfair and a lot of times unacceptable.
Sarah Palin's take on the matter
Sarah Palin had also lashed out at the press and media saying that whatever happened that night was not funny, but in fact, frightening and humiliating. She wrote on her Facebook page, calling out the bitter irony in which the media claims concern over the war on women, but when faced with such a situation, they take a humorous stand on the subject. She went on to call the media shameful for laughing at a young woman in this situation. The newscaster who said that the audio clip recorded of the brawl was the best thing she had heard, later apologized but not to the Palin family. Sarah Palin made a mention of that as well in her statement.
