Malia Obama Elle Varner, Elle Varner could very well see a spike in the sales of her debut album, Perfectly Imperfect, after First Lady Michelle Obama spoke about the R&B singer at the Democratic National Convention Monday night (Sept. 3).
During an interview with E! News correspondent Ross Mathews for the channel’s new series Pop and Politics, which aired Tuesday (Sept. 4), Michelle Obama spoke candidly about Pres. Obama’s accomplishments during his four-year run in-office, gay marriage and her daughter Malia’s first week as a high school student.
Michelle also revealed the eldest Obama child’s favorite new singer, which happened to be an artist the mom of two wasn’t too familiar with.
“Malia is all on top of her,” the First Lady shared, speaking of Varner. “So she played her new album for me and I picked out a couple songs.”
Varner, 23, who released her debut LP last month, was in shock when she heard the news. “OH MY GOD!!,” she wrote via Twitter. “Wait wait….did that really just happen!?!?! I literally prayed for this @MichelleObama thank you so much!! I’m so honored and speechless…”
