Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) returned to the big screen this weekend, a full 20 years after their disaster of a trip to Aspen made them iconic idiots. Though critics weren’t very kind to the film, audiences made it the number one movie in America — and were generously rewarded with a very unexpected cameo.
In one of several fantasy sequences, Lloyd imagines himself rescuing Harry’s daughter (played by Rachel Melvin) from a life of squalor in a trailer park. Harry, looking even more disheveled than usual, is flanked by his loyal wife, played by Mama June Shannon, the lowbrow-living matriarch of the hit show Honey Boo Boo.
Shannon doesn’t say much in the film, and spends most of her minute of screen time staring at the camera with a weird grin on her face, but it’s still pretty awkward timing for the movie, given the reality star’s recent personal troubles.
