Emma Stone Cabaret, The Broadway revival of “Cabaret” had solid ticket sales last week for the first set of performances starring the film actress Emma Stone, who is making her Broadway debut in the role of Sally Bowles.

According to box office data released on Monday, the show grossed $686,271 for eight performances, or 68 percent of the maximum possible amount; 85 percent of seats were filled. While Ms.

Stone might have been expected to be a bigger draw instantly, given her fan base from movies, tickets can be expensive: The average paid admission was $112.39 last week. And sales were surely affected by the absences of the show’s leading man, the Tony Award winner Alan Cumming; he was on vacation for four performances.

Among Broadway plays, the revival of “Love Letters” – which has had sluggish sales since starting performances in September – had its best week at the box office yet, coinciding with the start of performances by Alan Alda and Candice Bergen in the two-hander. The play grossed $483,280 for seven performances, or 62 percent of the maximum possible amount. Meanwhile, the Bradley Cooper-led revival of “The Elephant Man” set a new box office record for the Booth Theater, grossing $966,896 for eight sold-out preview performances.

Over all, Broadway musicals and plays had middling sales, grossing $26.4 million for 35 productions, compared to $24.7 million for 33 productions a year ago. Attendance was 259,956 compared to 247,240 a year ago.
