Zoe saldana defends britney spears, Though Zoe Saldana is now known for such box office hits as Avatar, Star Trek and now Guardians of the Galaxy, in 2002, she was better known for playing one of Britney Spears' besties in Crossroads.
Saldana, 36, recently appeared on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live to promote the latest Marvel film, and ended up fiercely defending Spears, 32, when a fan asked about her former co-star.
"I have a huge amount of respect for Britney Spears," Saldana said. "I've always said this, and I will always continue to say it: She was the one big, big celebrity that I met when I was starting to work in Hollywood, who literally was humble, and whatever was going on in her mind there in her world, it was never about hating her neighbor."
"She was the only pop star at the time -- and I can name a lot of prominent figures right now that are today more famous than Britney that literally got to where they were at by hating on Britney, because it was cool at one time to just diss her -- and Britney never did that."
As for her Auto-Tune controversy in July, in which a demo of her song Alien leaked featuring her less than perfect vocals, Saldana was again quick to defend Spears.
"Well, that's mean because I'm pretty sure that 80 percent of our musical artists would be mortified if they were caught singing without their own Auto-Tune," she said.
Spears responded to Saldana's supportive remarks with an Instagram post showing a still from their film Crossroads. The shot shows Spears, Saldana and their co-star Taryn Manning driving with the hood down in a convertible.
The photo was captioned: "@ZoeSaldana is truly the sweetest. Nothing but great memories of working with her."
