What will Justin think? Jennifer Aniston spotted without her engagement ring amid Oscar buzz for new indie flick Cake, She's engaged to Hollywood hunk Justin Theroux.
But on Tuesday Jennifer Aniston stepped out without her engagement ring on while in Los Angeles. Her mind may have been elsewhere, however, as it seems her new indie film Cake could bring her an Oscar nod, if reviews are anything to go by.
Jennifer wore a simple white shirt and jeans set off with pearl earrings and minimal make-up, and she popped on a pair of designer sunglasses.as soon as she hopped into the vehicle.
The star is clearly thrilled since her raw performance in Cake has already begun to stir up rumours of a possible Best Actress nomination.
According to Deadline, the film will hit theatres for one week in December in order to qualify for Academy Awards consideration, with a wider release set for January 2015.
'When my life and producing partner Ben Barnz and I first read Cake just fourteen months ago, we knew we had to go to Jennifer Aniston.
'It was the most obvious un-obvious choice – she’s mega-talented, but we’ve never seen the whole range of her extraordinary comic and dramatic abilities showcased in one role,' said the film's director and executive producer Daniel Barnz.
Cake is a departure for the usually glamourous 45-year-old, as she plays a dowdy woman that suffers from chronic pain and addiction issues.
Her character finds herself falling for a recently widowed man played by Sam Worthington. The former Friends actress started generating Oscar buzz after the film received a rousing reception at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
With the news of the independent drama's December release, Jennifer could finally garner the award that has so far eluded her very successful career.
Interestingly enough, the talented beauty may find herself up against her ex-husband Brad Pitt's new wife Angelina Jolie at the Academy Awards.
The Maleficent star - who previously won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Girl, Interrupted - could very well be nominated for her turn as the titular character in the Disney blockbuster, as well as for her latest directorial effort Unbroken.
Meanwhile Brad - who received an Oscar for producing 12 Years A Slave last year - could also see a nod for his performance in Fury.
While Jennifer, Brad and Angelina all previously attended the Academy Awards in 2009, if everything works in their favor and they all get nominated, it could make for a very awkward red carpet come Oscar night on February 22.
