"Stephanie felt they weren't connecting and decided they should go to counseling," a source close to the situation tells People. "It was getting dire."
Sadly, the situation became a lot worse once the couple got help.
"In one of the counseling sessions, Sam thought he would make it better by confessing," reveals the source.What did he have to say? A lot. "He [admitted] that he had cheated on her with multiple women throughout the course of their courtship and marriage," continues the source. "He told her everything."
Sam isn't denying the allegations, telling People, "The circumstances and specifics of our marriage and our separation are extremely difficult and private."
