New orleans abandoned boy, Child abuse detectives are looking for those responsible for abandoning a baby on a Louisiana street corner.

The mother of the 1-year-old boy has not been charged after a concerned citizens found the child strapped in its stroller along the 2600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Saturday evening, according to a statement released by New Orleans Police Department.

The mother stopped by a police station later that night and said she left her son with a friend to watch while she took care of a medical condition, the statement read.

It’s not clear what became of the friend before the cops arrived at 5:20 p.m., nearly an hour after the child was discovered alone only a few blocks from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The child remains in custody with the Department of Child and Family Services while the case is investigated.
