Martin mull paintings

Martin mull paintings, On April 23, Steve Martin and singer-songwriter Edie Brickell will release their first LP together, Love Has Come for You. The 13 tracks feature Martin on banjo, Brickell’s vocals, and jacket art—a black-and-white painting—that has personal significance to the musician, comedian, and art collector.

In a new video, shot on a set designed like the painting, Steve Martin discusses his relationship with the artist, Martin Mull—also a prolific actor, singer, and comedian, who many might recognize as Roseanne Conner’s boss, Leon, on Roseanne Barr’s eponymous series—while strumming a bluegrass number with Brickell. “Martin Mull is one of my oldest friends. . . . You might know him as an actor,” he explains. “

But when I first met him, in the late 60s or early 70s, I also knew him as an accomplished painter. I had been collecting his portraits throughout my life. I own the painting that is on the cover of this album. I just thought that it was just offbeat enough; it just felt right. . . . Nobody said, including the record company, said, ‘Well, let’s look at some other ideas.’ . . . And that’s really rare.”
