LAPD officer arrested

LAPD officer arrested, On Thursday, Oct. 23, shortly after 7:30 a.m., detectives from the Huntington Beach Police Department were conducting surveillance in the area of Bolsa Chica St. south of Los Patos Ave. The surveillance was part of an investigation involving reports of a male exposing himself in the area over the last several months.

The incidents have occurred in the wetlands at the dead end of Bolsa Chica St. and involve several victims. Detectives observed the suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Huntington Beach resident Ryan Eric Galliher, commit a lewd act along an open pathway in the area. There were no other victims in the area at the time besides the investigators.

Detectives stopped and arrested Galliher for 647(a) PC – Lewd Act in Public. Galliher was identified as an off-duty Los Angeles Police Officer assigned to the Southwest Division and a resident of Huntington Beach.

Galliher was transported and booked at the city jail. The Los Angeles Police Department was notified and is cooperating in the investigation.

This arrest information was not immediately released to give investigators time to conduct follow up investigation. They have been working since his arrest contacting previous victims and attempting to identify additional victims. They are working with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office to determine if other charges will be filed. Galliher was released from custody with a pending court date and has been placed on administrative leave by the Los Angeles Police Department.
