Kaela Humphries weight loss, Kim Kardashian's former sister-in-law, Kaela Humphries, has told of how she had to completely overhaul her diet in order to lose 40lbs.
The 29-year-old sister of NBA star Kris Humphries, who is now a plus-size model with New York's Ford modeling agency, was a former competitive swimmer.
The new face of Limited's Eloquii line told People magazine: 'You are sort of used to living and eating a certain way, and then you are like, "Oh my God, I can't eat ten meals a day and 10,000 calories anymore.'
The model, who moved to New York from Minnesota in March, added that losing the weight was not easy.
She said: 'I'm approaching 30 and it gets harder to lose weight the older you get.'
Standing at 5'11, she now fits the preferred U.S. size 16 of the plus-size modelling industry.But she revealed that she fluctuated from size 10 to 12 in high school and went as far as an 18 after college.
She dropped four inches off her waist in total.
She said: 'Looking healthy is important in anything you do. It should have been more of a priority earlier. But it's hard when you have a full-time job in the real world and it's not your job to be in shape.'
Miss Humphries quit her career as a medical sales rep to pursue plus-size modelling.
She said: 'I didn't know about plus-size modeling, or that you could make a career out of it!'
After a photographer saw Miss Humphries' picture, saying she had 'pretty eyes,' she decided to 'go for gold' with full-time modelling.
Shortly after, she booked shoots with both Nordstrom and Kohl's.
'It's competitive out there there,' she explained.
Ms Humphries says she avoids carbs after 8pm and works out twice a day for up to two hours, but still indulges in treats every now and again.
She said: 'Even if I am a plus-size model, I have to be in the best shape for me.'
'And I'll have the hamburger,' she added, 'But I should probably say I'm getting a salad.'
Ford is confident she will follow in the steps of Crystal Renn and Ashley Graham, saying in a statement: 'A true size 16-18, Kaela will be in a league of her own.
'
