One thing we have learned from Jane Lynch's divorce is that gay divorce works much like straight divorce. Despite Embry having an income of her own, Jane Lynch was the breadwinner and will be giving up half of her assets.

Jane Lynch hasn't been to upset over the cost of divorcing Embry. She told Access Hollywood last year, "It's just money." Lynch gets to keep two vehicles and the home she and Embry shared.
Jane Lynch announced a separation from Dr. Lara Embry in June 2013. She filed for divorce just one month later. Now with more than a year gone by, Jane Lynch is a free woman. Her divorce from Embry however, was incredibly expensive.
According to Jane Lynch, despite the expense and difficult nature of divorce, she wants to stay friends with Embry. Lynch said, "It's not dramatic. It's not a horrible thing. It's something that we're dealing with. It's two people who just decided it's better to go apart than stay together." According to reports, Embry and Lynch are working to remain friends for the sake of Embry's 10-year old daughter.
