Ikey Owens' cause of death revealed, The cause of Ikey Owens' death has been revealed as a heart attack.
The Grammy winning musician - who played keyboards in Jack White's band - died in the early hours of yesterday (October 14) while on tour in Mexico. A statement has been released that says drugs were not a factor in his passing. "The coroner has determined that Ikey Owens died from a heart attack the morning of October 14 at approximately 4am," says the statement. "The only drugs found in his room were a small amount of marijuana."
Jack White cancelled the remainder of his tour dates in Mexico following Owens' death. News of Isaiah 'Ikey' Owens' passing was announced on Jack White's official website, via a statement which read: "It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah 'Ikey' Owens. He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans."
It continued: "Ikey Owens was an astounding keyboard player in Jack White's backing band. He also played with Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and many other projects. Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled. We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist."
