Icarly Star Cosgrove Millions, Carly star Miranda Cosgrove and her mother Chris Cosgrove have filed a lawsuit against the drivers involved in her tour bus accident and a tractor trailer in 2011. Cosgrove is claiming that it cost her $2.5 million in earnings, according to Canada Journal.
The Spreadit reports that the accident happened in August 2011 during the course of Miranda’s concert tour while traveling from Illinois to Kansas. Cosgrove’s tour bus slammed into an overturned tractor trailer that was stretched out across the road. Miranda was sleeping on the couch in the front of the bus when the accident happened. Her mother was also in the front part of the bus.
Miranda suffered a broken ankle while her mom was “really beaten up by the crash,” a source close to Miranda told People. The other 3 passengers, who were sleeping in bunk beds in the back of the bus, were not physically injured.
However, the bus driver had the worst injuries, sending him to the hospital in critical condition. People reports, “A piece from the tractor-trailer went straight through the windshield and the driver’s arm was sliced all the way through.”
As a result of the accident, Miranda had to cancel her remaining tour dates and claims she acquired a medical bill of $184,490.16, per TMZ.
Now, as Miranda has filed a new lawsuit against both drivers involved in her accident, she figures her losses range in the amount of $2.5 million. This figure comes from the 25 booked tour dates she had to cancel, costing her $400,000 in earnings. Her lawyers say she also had to cancel future concerts that were yet to be booked, costing her another $560,000.
Cosgrove also claims that she was “disabled and disfigured” in the accident according to her lawsuit, as reported by Latin Post, which in turn caused her record label, Sony, to drop her as well as losing her Neutrogena contract worth $400,000.
Miranda’s tour bus driver, on the other hand, says Cosgrove is grossly exaggerating the cost of her medical expenses. Latin Post reports that the driver is questioning “whether or not the bill is just from injuries sustained from the accident, and he added that he doesn’t believe that the crash made her lose out on a sponsorship with Neutrogena.”
Miranda and her mother are each seeking $50,000 in damages as reported by Canada Journal.
In 2010, Miranda Cosgrove was earning $180,000 per episode of Nickelodeon’s iCarly. And in 2012, just one year after her bus accident, Miranda was listed in the Guinness World Records as the Highest Paid Child Actress (for iCarly), and purchased a home for $2.6 million, according to the Spreadit.
