Flo rida paid Mahogany Miller less than minimum wage, Flo Rida is getting a bad rap from his ex-assistant. A woman who says she worked for the rapper is suing him for unspecified damages, claiming that he stiffed her out of a fair wage by offering measly compensation.
So how low did Flo allegedly go?Mahogany Miller claims she was paid $3.08 an hour—less than half the federal minimum wage—for a 65-hour work week.
In the suit, filed Jan. 27 in U.S. District Court in Miami, Miller alleges that she endured long hours when she started working as an administrative assistant for the rapper (real name: Tramar Dillard) in August 2011, but couldn't handle the job's low salary.
When she aired her concerns to him, she was allegedly fired within a day.Miller's attorney, Robert Harris, tells E! News exclusively that the current lawsuit will be amended soon to include other counts.
No good feelings from this former Flo Rida employee, that's for sure.
The rapper's lawyer, Sandy Becher, tells E! News, meanwhile, that they have not yet been served with the suit that was filed on Jan. 27, and that "Flo is being falsely targeted for doing something out of the goodness of his own heart."
Miller was never on Flo's payroll and was actually a volunteer—not an administrative assistant as she claimed in her lawsuit, Becher says. She adds that Miller was originally denied a position on his staff and was given the volunteer spot only after she tracked the "Right Round" singer down at a club and begged for a job.
Flo occasionally paid for her gas or meal expenses, but she was never salaried, Becher says.
And, she adds, Miller wasn't fired because she asked for more money or for any other allegations her lawyer might have told us about. Flo fired her because she showed "inappropriate, attention-seeking groupie behavior."
