4 Killed Accident Auburn, A single-car crash in Auburn killed four people early Saturday. Two other people were rushed to Harborview Medical Center.
Police say at 2 a.m. a car heading northbound in the 3700 block of Auburn Way South went off the road and hit a power pole.
Investigators say two females and two males died at the scene. The male driver was taken to Harborview along with a man officers found outside the car. Both are listed in critical condition.
Witnesses said it was a gory scene, but not the first bad accident they've seen at that spot along Auburn Way South.
"Just another testament that drinking and driving is probably our worst enemy here in society," said a neighbor, as he stopped to pay his respects near the scene. "It's a hard thing to swallow knowing what happened here and the cause of it."
Police believe the driver was likely impaired, though they'll have to wait for blood work to confirm that. They also say speed was a factor.
Just last December, alcohol and speed played a role in a crash that killed a 5-year-old along that same stretch of roadway.
Police have not yet released the identities of those involved in the crash, but family members says 23-year-old James Vaccaro was one of the two people rushed to the hospital.
His twin brother, Jacob, told KING 5 the two were at a bar on Friday night with some friends. Jacob left early, and says his brother told him he'd get a ride home with someone else. He now knows the driver who James and several other friends got in the car with should not have been behind the wheel. Jacob says his twin is now in critical condition and another one of his best friends was killed in the crash.
"My thoughts are all over the place," said Jacob Vaccaro. "My brother is in the hospital. My best friend died. Not a good day. It's not worth it. Having one fun night isn't worth your life, you know. It isn't worth your life."
Jacob says his brother's injuries are very serious.
The King County Medical Examiner's Office didn't expect to make positive identifications on the four people who died until at least Monday.
