San Diego Navy base, Naval Base San Diego is the largest base of the United States Navy on the west coast of the United States, in San Diego, California. Naval Base San Diego is the principal homeport of the Pacific Fleet.
A thoroughly modern, state-of-the-art naval facility, Naval Base San Diego is homeport to approximately 54 ships, including 44 U.S. Navy ships, two U.S. Coast Guard cutters and eight ships of the Military Sealift Command, as well as research and auxiliary vessels. Soon, the base will welcome the Navy’s newest and most advanced 21st century fleet platforms known as Littoral Combat Ships.
Today's mission is to provide appropriate logistical support for the operating forces of the U.S. Navy and for dependent activities and other commands as assigned.
