Michael Landsberry served in Afghanistan as a member of the Nevada Air National Guard, Michael Landsberry served as a voluntary member of the Nevada Air National Guard. Back in October 2013 he lost his life.
However not to war, not in Afghanistan where he had served, no, at the hands of yet another High School Shooter. Michael was first and foremost a math teacher and a seemingly dedicated and beloved one at that.
In the horrible incident he put himself between the shooter and a student whom the shooter was pointing the gun at. He tried to talk the shooter down and sadly lost his own life. Although two other students were injured the only other fatality was the shooter himself who shot himself. A familiar end to many of these horrific incidents.
