Many Crimson Tide fans blame his two missed field goals and a third attempt that was blocked for the team's loss to hated rivals Auburn over Thanksgiving weekend and death threats have begun pouring in for the 22-year-old senior.
George W. Bush, apparently, sympathizes. This week, he sent the Texas-native a note telling him to keep his chin up.
'Life has its setbacks. I know! However, you will be a stronger human with time,' the former U.S. President wrote.
Foster posted the picture to his Instagram on Wednesday with the message 'Framing this.'
Bush, who was the 43rd president of the United States, also included a sly joke for Foster - whose number on the field is 43.
He wrote: 'Sincerely - another 43 - George Bush.'Foster and the Crimson Tide would have likely been playing for a national championship if the team hadn't been beaten by Auburn. The loss knocked Alabama from its No. 1 ranking and knocked it out of the SEC conference championship game.
Instead, Alabama will face the Oklahoma Sooners in the Sugar Bowl.
Despite the fan criticism for his three missed field goals, teammates have risen to Foster's defense.
Quarterback AJ McCarron told ESPN: 'Cade's a great kid. It wasn't all his fault. Other people struggled. I love him to death and I have all the confidence in him in the world that he could go out there right now and make the kicks. The one thing about him is he needs to keep his head high and be proud.'
Foster is expected to be drafted into the NFL after this season.
