"Merry Christmas from the Blackstocks," Clarkson Tweeted Tuesday with a photo of herself, new husband Brandon Blackstock and Blackstock's two children from his first marriage, Savannah and Seth.
In the photo, the new family – along with their two dogs – are wrapped in Christmas decorations and awkwardly stare at Santa Claus, who is seated next to them in front of a fire place.
"Since having an opportunity to be a loving stepmother, Kelly enjoys every moment and all the joy and happiness that comes with being a parent," jeweler Johnathon Arndt, a friend of the couple, tells PEOPLE.
And with a baby on the way, this is likely the first of many family photos for the former American Idol winner. Despite morning sickness, she has been spending her first months of pregnancy promoting her Christmas album Wrapped in Red and television special Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Music Tale, airing on NBC Wednesday.
"Kelly loves her stepchildren with all of her heart, and that has given her even more passion to have her own children to add to the loving family," says Arndt, who also designed Clarkson and Blackstock's wedding bands. "Family always come first for both Kelly and Brandon."
