Bad dad! David Beckham left son Romeo in tears after awarding penalty against him, Beckham was acting as a referee during a casual match involving son Romeo, when he was forced to make the tough decision.

The former England captain opted to give a penalty against Romeo, leaving the 11-year-old in floods of tears.

‘I had to step in to ref one of their games and I kind of didn’t really want to,’ said Beckham.

‘I took my coat off and I went out there and it was Romeo’s game.‘First half went great; they were winning 3-1. Second half 4-1, 5-1 and then Romeo went to make a tackle in the penalty area, missed the ball and took the young kid down and I had to give a penalty.

‘Fortunately they missed it. But as we were running back – Romeo was jogging behind and he turned around to me and said, “I can’t believe you did that to me, dad.” And he was crying.’

Romeo’s team went on to win the match, but dad David still ended up in the dog house.

However, he says it was an important moment for his kid.

‘It was kind of a lesson for him,’ he added.

‘I hope he learns from it.’
