Murray gun scare: 4 men arrested after allegedly flashing a gun at Andy Murray

Murray gun scare: 4 men arrested after allegedly flashing a gun at Andy Murray, The Andy Murray gun scare that happened in London on Wednesday resulted in the arrest of four men. It was reported by British media that the gun scare was called in by an unidentified person who allegedly saw a man with a firearm in a Mercedes car, according to a report from Mail Online today.

British police also confirmed that there were four arrests made in the Murray gun scare incident. However, the suspects car was searched and police found no trace of a gun or any other weapon.

The men were released after the gun scare turned out to be nothing more than just a few eager fans with a tennis racquet.

According to the report, one of the men tapped Murray's car window in an attempt to get the tennis star's autograph on a racquet. Apparently, a misinformed witness thought they saw the fan tap the glass with a gun and subsequently called police to report the gun scare.

Murray drove away and the men followed him in a Mercedes.

"Police were called at 17:00 (GMT) on Wednesday by a member of the public reporting that they had seen a male in a Mercedes car in Avenue Road (northwest London) in possession of a firearm," the police statement said.

"The car was subsequently stopped in Tadema Road (southwest London) and four men were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm.

"They were taken into custody and on Thursday bailed to return on a date in late January, pending further investigation.

"A search of the car was conducted and no trace of a firearm was found. Enquiries continue."

The Murray gun scare happened shortly after the Wimbledon champion finished up a book-signing. Murray's autobiography, "Seventy-Seven: My Road to Wimbledon Glory," was just released in bookstores. For the occasion, Murray, 26, met his fans at an autograph session held in London on Wednesday.

In his book, the no. 4 player in the world talks about how he felt after becoming the first British male since Fred Perry in 77 years to reach Wimbledon glory. Throughout the pages, Andy Murray occasionally abandoned the professional aspects to deliver more on his personal aspirations. He wrote:

"I would like to start a family and try to be a good father. That’s important to me. It is something that I’m starting to think about because Kim and I have been together for eight years."

Murray is also preparing for an exhibition match with tennis great Serena Williams in the summer of 2014.

The match-up started as a Twitter joke but according to British media reports, representatives from both players will meet next month to negotiate the details of the event, which is slated to take place in Las Vegas, as suggested by Murray.
