Hoax gunman report sends police to Under Armour headquarters, Police converged on the Baltimore headquarters of apparel maker Under Armour Sunday after receiving a report of a gunman only to determine it was a hoax.
The incident began with an anonymous 911 call at 2:18 p.m. EST, The Baltimore Sun reported.
About a dozen Under Armour employees were evacuated, nearby streets were barricaded and a SWAT team combed the corporate campus building by building, the newspaper said.
It took police hours to complete their search.
"We're going to make sure somebody goes to jail," police spokesman Eric Kowalczyk said. "This call put lives at risk."
Investigators said it did not appear the caller was a company employee or was affiliated with the maker of sportswear and casual wear clothing, the Sun said.
Under Armour employees received an email from the company Sunday evening informing them it would be business as usual Monday morning.
