Yogi berra baseball hall of fame, Named MVP of the American League three times (1951, 1954, 1955) and was a 15-time All-Star selection. Received MVP votes every year from 1947-61.

Won 10 World Series championships as a Yankee in a 16-year span from 1947-62.
Drove in more than 100 runs for four consecutive years (1953-56) and hit 358 homers. Led the Yankees in RBI every season from 1949-55.

A .285 career hitter, he played outfield early and late in his career.
Caught Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series.
Given name is Lawrence Peter Berra; picked up his nickname from a friend who said he resembled a Hindu holy man he had seen in a movie.
After Playing Career:

Had a 484-444 record as a manager, and was manager of the Yankees in 1964, leading them to the AL pennant. Was a coach on the 1969 Mets (World Series winner), and managed the Mets to NL pennant in 1973. He's one of only six managers to lead both American and National League teams to the World Series.

A fan favorite for generations, he's known for malapropisms called "Yogi-isms." His most famous have become part of everyday speech: "It ain't over till it's over" and "It's like deja vu all over again."
Son Dale played in the majors from 1977-87.
The Hanna-Barbera cartoon character Yogi Bear was named after him.
