Sitcom Dads, According to The Associated Press - the critically-panned sitcom Dads has plenty of appeal for young adult viewers. Although the show didn’t come out of the gate swinging, Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly believes the comedy is “an asset we can grow.”
“Fox has been looking to break into the multi-camera format for some time,” Reilly explained. “We’re looking forward to seeing where the fantastic cast and the creative minds of Seth, Alec, Mike, and Wellesley take us the rest of the season.”
Starring Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi, the sitcom Dads tells the story of two video game designers who live with their fathers. According to AceShowbiz, the comedy was recently slammed by critics for its crude and insensitive jokes. Some folks also believe the series is nothing short of racist.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Media Action Network for Asian Americans (MANAA) took issue with some of the material in the Seth MacFarlane sitcom. Founder Guy Aoki sent a letter to network executives prior to the show’s premiere.
Aoki explained:
“Fox has an opportunity to fix fatal flaws in the pilot and to improve the show’s chances for success when it premieres next month. We are asking you to reshoot the inappropriate scenes of the pilot. Considering the consistent feedback from our community and television critics in general — and the creators saying they hadn’t properly defined their characters nor gotten used to their actors when they shot that first episode — this sounds like a no-brainer.”
The Fox sitcom Dads isn’t the only new series to get a full season order. The Andy Samberg comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine was recently picked up for new episodes. While other networks continue to struggle with their latest offerings, Fox is apparently doing something right.
