Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge Heading To Gala Dinner Following Prince George's Christening, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge had a big day yesterday as her son, Prince George of Cambridge was christened at the Chapel Royal, St James' Palace, but that doesn't mean she's going to be resting around today as the new mum is heading out tonight for the 100 Women in Hedge Funds Gala Dinner.

The annual event will be held at Kensington Palace in aid of Action on Addiction, a charity of which Kate is a patron. The second public event attended by the royal, as well as her appearance at a SportsAid workshop at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last Friday signals that the 31 year-old has returned to work following her maternity leave.

It was confirmed that Kate would finish her royal duties on June 16 ahead of the birth of Prince George, who arrived a month later on July 22 and would then take time off. Kensington Palace made it clear though, there was no set maternity time for the Duchess and that she would return to duties when she alone decided.

With her diary filling up and a royal tour of Australia expected for next year it seems that new mum Kate is raring to go again, just three months after the arrival of her son.

While her first official solo engagement was last Friday, it's not the first time Kate's attended an event since giving birth. In September she made a special exception to accompany Prince William to the Tusk Trust Awards in London, a charity that is close to his heart and also made a surprise appearance at the official opening of the Ring O'Fire marathon in Angelsey in July.

Kate and William were joined by their closest family members and George's chosen seven godparents with their spouses with the only invited guests to the intimate ceremony yesterday. It's the first time little George has been seen in public since the day after he was born on July 23rd when Kate and William left the Lindo Wing, St Mary's hospital.

The little prince has certainly grown since then and looked pretty cute in the replica royal christening gown created in 2008 by the Queen's dressmaker Angela Kelly. According to insiders the tot was pretty well behaved during the service.

Prince George has been good as gold today," a source told Us Weekly, claiming during the service he "blew bubbles while William bounced him."

When arriving at the chapel William, who was accompanied by wife Kate in a cream Alexander McQueen outfit, reportedly joked: "This is the quietest he's been all day."

Following the service guests attended a reception held at Clarence House by proud grandfather Prince Chares, Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cambridge.

The service went very well according to the Palace who reportedly told the magazine: "It has been a tremendously joyful occasion for everyone involved."
