Cubs apologize for tossing Ron Santo memorabilia
Cubs apologize for tossing Ron Santo memorabilia, The story began Monday when the Cubs threw out several banners and other items, including a giant card fans signed for Santo at the 2011 Cubs Convention a couple of months after his death.

The Cubs on Tuesday apologized for tossing out the memorabilia, and spokesman Julian Green told a radio station they retrieved it, only to admit later to the Tribune it was gone.

The owner of Murphy’s Bleachers Bar saw the memorabilia in the dumpster while walking her dog and instructed a couple of the bartenders to get it.

They plan to give it to the Santo family this weekend while in town for the annual Ron Santo Walk to Cure Diabetes on Sunday.
